Bleach Lab - 'All Night'

Bleach Lab are lustful and passionate in their new single All Night.

The London four-piece have released yet another single from their upcoming album Lost In A Rush of Emptiness, out 22 September.

All Night differs in tone from the previous singles we have heard so far. Lead single Indigo is a cathartic track about letting go, Counting Empties is sad and sombre. Whereas All Night is stunning and slightly sinister.

Bleach Lab’s debut single Heartache of the Season arrived in 2019, and since then they have put out three EPs, A Calm Sense of Surrounding and Nothing Feels Real in 2021, and If You Only Feel It Once in 2022.

All three of the Eps were incredibly successful and met with praise, and the band have gained quite a fanbase during the past few years, and been compared to the likes of Mazzy Star, who they say were an inspiration to them.

Their music has echoes of The Sundays, with slightly more meaty, thick guitar riffs.

This is certainly apparent on All Night, which opens with drums and a gorgeous, rich guitar line that is expertly produced. The pacing in this song is very impressive, something Bleach Lab continue to excel at. Although some of their songs are slow, they never lose the listener because of the way their songs are structured.

As usual, the track is dreamy and hazy. “Tell me everything will be fine/I’ll be yours tonight, you know it feels right” vocalist Jenna Kyle sings in her striking voice, coaxingly.

Lyrically, the song has elements of obsession in it. Of the song, Kyle said: “I was (and still am) really into true crime at the time I wrote these lyrics. I am attracted to mystery and suspense. I almost wanted to write a fictional story from the perspective of a person who has an unhealthy obsession with someone. I really wanted to write lyrics that at the first few listens could be seen as simply romantic, someone deeply in love, but on the second or third listen, the listener picks up on the darker themes.”

Tonally, then, it’s similar to Every Breath You Take by The Police, a tale of infatuation.

“You’re in the deepest part of my mind/Inside a box they’ll never find” Kyle sings, carrying an underlying sinister tone.

Bleach Lab prove, yet again, that they are one of the most exciting alternative bands working today, and their new record is shaping up to be very impressive.
