Mutoid Man - 'Call of the Void'
Mutoid Man return with new single ‘Call of the Void’ for the highly anticipated album Mutants which is their first release in over six years.
The punk rock and metal superheroes Mutoid Man, the trio consists of ‘Cave In’ vocalist and guitarist Steven Brodsky, ‘Converge’ drummer Ben Koller and the newly added ‘High on Fire’ bassist Jeff Matz. The trio announces their first album in six years ‘Mutants’ which will be available on the 28th of July, single ‘Call of the Void’ is a tightly harnessed bonanza of dexterous pinch harmonic riffs and a call-to-arms chorus with a relentless double-kick beat. The single arrives with a Two Minutes to Late Night directed video where Mutoid Man breaks out of their robotic confines where they eventually transform into their true mutant self.
Riding on the success of their 2013 EP ‘Helium Head’, Mutoid Man took on a manic work ethic over the next four years as they released their 2015 ‘Bleeder’ which was followed by their 2017 ‘War Moans’ album. They toured relentlessly across the US and Europe and became a de facto house band for esteemed New York metal venue Saint Vitus along the way. With Mutoid Man appearing on tour dates supporting acts like Mastodon and Danzig, the trio entered the upper echelon of heavy metal heroes was inevitable. However, due to an exodus from Brooklyn and a pandemic, Mutoid Man was put on hold in the midst of their ascendancy, but after six-year recoding hiatus, the band are finally back to reclaim their throne.
Steven Brodsky and Ben Koller have always excelled at crafting their own unique brand of frenzied, dynamic and excessive fretboard-savvy metal. The new addition of Jeff Matz, makes Mutoid Man’s album to be their most accomplished and most mind-boggling effort yet with metal and punk irreverence on the upcoming album.
The 10-track album will be followed with Mutoid Man returning to the UK for a headline tour this September.
