FIZZ - 'High In Brighton'
What happens when you mix a youtuber, irish singer songwriter, messy folk and a self-taught multi-instrumentalist? Fizzy, high-octane, lush pop cuts. And luckily, that’s exactly the name of the band.
The shiny new indie supergroup, FIZZ are composed of dodie, Orla Gartland, Greta Isaac, and Martin Luke Brown. An amalgamation of some of the most promising rising artists of this generation, FIZZ is music in its most simplistically beautiful form – a group of friends banding together to create a truly joyous collection.
Despite ‘High In Brighton’ being their debut single, the quartet haven’t held back in trying to make a name for themselves – having already performed a set at The Great Escape Festival.
Divulging the narrative behind the track FIZZ notes, “Real life is boring. ‘High In Brighton’ is a psychedelic yearning to escape to a fantasised seaside town complete with a key change, honky tonk piano, high speed drums and even a clarinet solo.”
Plucked from their upcoming album, ‘High In Brighton’ is jam-packed with yearning and bursts the group onto the scene in the most glorious fashion. The cut combines the elements we love from each of the artists including dodie’s effervescent vocalisations and Isaac’s confident arrangements. Fantasizing of a great escape (“I want to get out of my room, it's so boring”), FIZZ dream of cutting loose and breaking away to Brighton Beach (hence the title), before realising, that maybe, dreams don’t always live up to expectations (“I'm on the marine parade and it's still boring, boring, boring”).
Their debut record The Secret To Life – a collection of a dozen tracks, is due out September 15th, preceded by a string of live dates.
And for legal reasons, the band state that the reference to being ‘high’ on Brighton Beach, in fact refers to paragliding.
