Charly Bliss - 'You Don't Even Know Me Anymore'
Charly Bliss release new single ‘You Don’t Even Know Me Anymore’.
New York pop savants Charly Bliss are back after 4 years with the new single ‘You Don’t Even Know Me Anymore’, this follows their 2019 critically acclaimed album ‘Young Enough’. After the release of their 2017 debut album ‘Guppy’ which was filled with grungy rock and bright pop hooks, Charly Bliss decided to shift the direction of their music towards pop with their album ‘Young Enough’.
Even though ‘Young Enough’ blurs the lines of music genres, the album is heavy. As frontman Eva Hendricks scrutinises her past as she reclaims her pain and prioritises her own happiness. The heaviness in ‘Young Enough’ does not stop there, with track ‘Chatroom’ lyrics telling the story of an abusive ex, the violence and the betrayal. With lyrics like ‘Wasted my summer slapping my face, well. I wanna see you stripped down, naked.’
About the new single Eva Hendricks says that when she moved to Australia, she felt a million miles away from who she used to be in New York, as if she had been reborn happy and now carefree. She continues, “I was convinced that I had totally bypassed the ‘wherever you go, there you are’ thing. Lexapro also helped. I think this song is a farewell to how sad and tortured I felt during the Young Enough album cycle. It's like the ‘fuck it!’ that you earn after burning your entire life down and starting over. Sam sent me the track and it felt exactly as joyous and silly and giddy as I felt inside. It came together quickly and set the tone for a new CB era.”
