Alfie Erskine - 'Petty Girl'
South Liverpool’s very own Alfie Erskine makes himself known with stunning debut single: ‘Petty Girl’.
Despite being no stranger to the music scene, with numerous gigs under his belt, the singer-songwriter offers his first piece of recorded material to the world with ‘Petty Girl’.
His familiarity with the scene is apparent throughout the entirety of his debut. The track is brimming with quality.
Kicking it off is a careful rhythm section that perfectly highlights the acoustic guitar chords which then lead Erskine through the track.
The vocalist works his way through a truly emotive verse that details the hardships, challenges and realities of a relationship. The track is carefully paced as it reaches its choruses.
These choruses are where Erskine shines, his stunning voice takes centre stage as he sings- at perfect pitch- the titular words: “My petty girl, let me know what you’re thinking, what you’re thinking honey.”
The track itself tells one of the most relatable stories there is. Relationships, as we know, come with challenges, but there’s something there which makes it all worth it in the end. This passion, love and flurry of emotions documented by Erskine’s words are truly solidified by his gripping intonation. It’s safe to say that Alfie Erskine has a natural knack for captivating listeners.
Towards the tail end of the number comes a huge guitar solo, which provides an epic closure to an outstanding piece of music.
Alfie Erskine has blown the door to his music career right off its hinges with his debut single. If ‘Petty Girl’ is anything to by, the singer-songwriter is sure to gather attention from all angles as he continues his musical journey.
