Album Review: Miles Kane - 'Change The Show'
Miles Kane returns with his 4th solo album ‘Change The Show’ a first-class record which is his most honest and mature album to date but doesn’t shy away from his rock’ n ’roll roots.
The growth and development of Miles Kane has been a intriguing journey seeing him blossom into One of the UK’s finest solo artists. Miles reinvents himself on every album and that’s very much the case on ‘Change The Show’ where although he goes back to basics he also incorporates other styles like Motown, soul and 50’s R&B into his songs. Although this is an album of reflection by Miles it’s very joyous with some incredible songs.
‘Tears Are Falling’ is the opening track of the album which still carries the glam rock sound which was the forefront of Kane’s previous album Coup De Grace but the melody is more soothing and heartfelt. The album then has a Paul O’Grady cameo which opens the infectious single ‘Don’t Let It Get You Down’, a fantastic single which really is one of the highlights of the album.
Another real highlight on the album is the track ‘Never Get Tired Of Dancing’ which is the perfect song to portray the album, a great blend of classic rock’n’roll with Motown to create a jubilant song which will have everyone busting out the moves. ‘Tell me What You’re Feeling’ is another great example of the still sticking to his Rock’n’Roll homage but using a classic UK soul influence in the song which works exquisitely.
The single ‘See Ya When I See Ya’ will most definitely be a favourite with all Miles Kane fans as it sounds familiar with the indie/glam rock vibes but also has a fresh sound which is faultless inclusion on this album. The album overall really is superb and it’s still refreshing to see Miles experiment with his style but also finding exactly the right balance.
