Caroline Rose - 'The Doldrums'
Caroline Rose has released a new single ‘The Doldrums’. A song featured on Rose's forthcoming album ‘The Art of forgetting’. Releasing on the 24th of march this year, through new west records.
‘‘The Doldrums’ was the song I wrote when I was realising I had basically no understanding of self-compassion. It’s about the voice inside my head that blames me for everything that’s ever gone wrong, mostly things out of my control. My idea of rebirth and reformation at the time was killing off my old self and finding a new one, rather than simply being kind to myself…Not because I didn’t want to be, but because I didn’t really know how.” - Caroline Rose
When creating ‘The Art of forgetting’ Rose said that they were ‘getting these calls every day from my grandma, who was clearly losing her memory. It got me thinking about all the different ways memory shows up throughout our lives. It can feel like a curse or be wielded as a tool.’ This period in their life inspired the Production of ‘The Art of Forgetting’ through Layered vocal arrangements, Balkan-influenced yawps, Gregorian autotune choirs as well as acoustic instrumentation. These influences can be heard through their latest single ‘The doldrums’ as well.
Roses ‘The Doldrums’ will leave you feeling inspired it is the perfect track to listen to through over-the-ear headphones so that you can truly immerse yourself into the world of Caroline Rose. The instrumentation, pan of vocals and guitar lines is everything and more.
Caroline Rose will be doing a European and UK tour starting at the end of May, following the release of ‘The Art of forgetting’ on the 24th of March.
