Man/Woman/Chainsaw - 'MadDog'
London-based art punk prodigies Man/Woman/Chainsaw return with new single “MadDog” along with a vinyl release
Man/Woman/Chainsaw are a six-piece group formed in 2021, recently celebrating a landmark 100th gig since their inception, along with announcements of various music festival slots including End of the Road and Victorious.
Their latest single is a follow up to their prior release “Adam & Steve”, the band announcing both these songs will be available on a limited 7” vinyl via So Young Records on May 23rd.
Far-sighted and multifaceted, “MadDog” is a masterful blend of vivid, erratic guitar playing along with a soft touch of suave, peaceful sections of pop-rock brilliance, a mixture partly explained by the involvement of former black midi member Seth Evans.
“We wrote the song as two parts, the pissed off bit and the sad/nostalgic bit, and recorded it with a quick turnaround which was fairly new to us", they explain on the duality of their latest work.
The latter part of this piece grows intense very quickly, with swelling violins layering over the delicate melody built within the evergrowing wall of instrumentation, topped with the repeating hums of the chorus.
On the lyrical themes explored in the song, the group explain: "Mad Dog talks about losing a friend and watching them become everything you thought they wouldn’t”.
Man/Woman/Chainsaw are currently amidst a UK tour, with a further European tour planned for the end of the summer.
